The Cehegín City Council, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Natural Heritage and Climate Action, has carried out cleaning and restoration work at the Argos reservoir, one of the most frequently used areas by fishing enthusiasts in the Region of Murcia.
The institutional visit was attended by the mayor of Cehegín, Alicia del Amor, and the Regional Minister for the Environment, Juan María Vázquez, who verified firsthand the improvements carried out.
Torrential rains had caused the accumulation of large quantities of reeds and plant debris along the banks, as well as damage to the access road, making it difficult to practice the sport.
The work focused on the left bank of the reservoir, removing plant debris with machinery and with the collaboration of local fishermen. The material was transported to an authorized center for proper management. Thanks to this action, several fishing spots that were previously unusable have been restored, and the environmental condition of the reservoir has been improved.
The total investment amounted to 14,652 euros, thus reinforcing Cehegín’s commitment to sustainability, environmental conservation, and the promotion of outdoor activities for residents and visitors.
