The document outlines a roadmap to boost the gastronomy, agri-food products, and wine heritage of Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Moratalla, and Mula.
The Northwest Tourism Services Association of the Region of Murcia (Mancomunidad de Servicios Turísticos del Noroeste) has developed the “Tierras de la Vera Cruz” Wine and Gastronomy Tourism Strategic Plan. This document establishes the courses of action to promote and structure the gastronomic and wine-related offerings of the six municipalities that make up the region.
The project had a budget of €18,113.70 (VAT included) and was funded by the European Union—NextGenerationEU, within the framework of the “Northwest Region of Murcia: Tradition, Flavor, and Nature” Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations.
The Plan is based on the significant wine and gastronomic wealth of the “Tierras de la Vera Cruz” area, which boasts renowned products such as Calasparra Rice, Bullas DO wines, Murcia cheeses, and Segureño lamb, alongside a wide variety of traditional products, local cuisine, wineries, olive oil mills, agricultural landscapes, markets, and gastronomy-related celebrations.
The document was developed with the participation of companies and stakeholders linked to tourism, gastronomy, and the agri-food sector across the six municipalities, incorporating their input into the diagnostic assessment and the definition of future courses of action.
The result is a joint strategy and action plan for the next four years, aimed at improving tourism offerings, fostering cooperation between public authorities and businesses, and highlighting the value of the territory’s gastronomic and wine-related assets.
With this Plan, the Association now has a roadmap to establish “Tierras de la Vera Cruz” as a wine and gastronomy tourism destination, leveraging the unique nature of its products, landscapes, traditions, and wine heritage, while contributing to the region’s sustainable tourism and economic development.
