SALTO DEL USERO

Classified as a Site of Geological Interest, the Salto del Usero is located in the Mula River channel, north of the El Castellar hill. It’s a place of great scenic beauty with hydrological and geomorphological significance. Erosion has created its distinctive vaulted shape, where water cascades several meters down, forming a deep pool constantly filled with water, widely used during summer.

Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope

It is the magical place a place of devotion par excellence and probably the greatest religious attraction Calasparra has to offer. This 17th-century temple was carved into the rock beside the Segura River and houses the images of La Pequeñica and La Grande. It’s set in a natural environment of extraordinary beauty that forms part of the Cañaverosa Nature Reserve.

Royal Basilica-Sanctuary of the Most Holy and True Cross

It is our symbol and the reason we are one of the five Holy Cities in the world. It stands imposingly in the heart of the ancient medieval fortress. Its construction began in 1617 and stands out for its impressive 18th-century Baroque facade, carved from local marbles. Inside, you will not only admire the Herrerian architecture but also feel the devotion as you stand before the Chapel of the True Cross, where we guard the relic and the “Lignum Crucis.”

Cehegín ARCADES

The arcades of Plaza del Castillo date back to 1725. Their original function was to house private boxes for wealthy individuals to comfortably watch spectacles, such as bullfights or ceremonies, held in the square. In the 19th century, they were covered with walls, transforming into rooms dedicated to selling meat and fish.

Cañaica DEL CALAR

Also known as El Calar de la Santa, this area is characterized by a prominent juniper forest and the existence of multiple rock shelters containing parietal manifestations of rock art. In Shelter II, more than 40 figures of quadrupeds, caprids, and cervids have been documented.

CASTLE OF MULA

This imposing building is the most eminent and distinguished in the city. A magnificent 16th-century ashlar work, it rises at the top of the hill, from where it dominates the entire valley. It was built to demonstrate the power and supremacy of the House of Vélez. Although it’s not open to visitors, it offers stunning views of the city and the Mula River region.
