The Association of Tourism Services of the Northwest Region of Murcia has carried out a project to improve the green infrastructure of the “Ruta Verde” (Green Route), which runs through the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz, Moratalla, and Calasparra.<\/p>\n
The project had a budget of \u20ac72,599.99 and is funded by NextGenerationEU funds, within the framework of the “Northwest Region of Murcia: Tradition, Flavor, and Nature” Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations.<\/p>\n
The primary objective of the project is to improve the surroundings of the Green Route, increase shaded areas, and make its use more pleasant and sustainable for residents and visitors, especially during the hottest months.<\/p>\n
To this end, new plantings have been carried out in four strategic locations across the three municipalities: a rest area in Caravaca de la Cruz, a site next to the Moratalla football field, and two locations in Calasparra\u2014one near a rest area and the other at the entrance to the Green Route.<\/p>\n
In total, 247 trees and 400 shrubs will be planted, helping to improve the landscape, foster biodiversity, and strengthen the land’s protection against the effects of heavy rainfall and erosion.<\/p>\n
The initiative will also enhance the value of the Green Route as a resource for active and nature-based tourism, allowing it to be enjoyed over a longer period of the year and reinforcing its role as a green corridor connecting the municipalities of the Northwest.<\/p>\n
With this initiative, the Association of Municipalities continues to make progress in improving and naturalizing tourist areas in the Northwest, committing to a tourism model that is more sustainable, respectful of the environment, and adapted to the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
